    • Product Rating: 5 star(s) My first HDTV. Love my SHARP AQUOS!
by The Sheriff, Jul. 6, 2008
    • Pros: Many inputs on the back. Love the different ways you can size the picture.
    • Cons: The cable box remote does not recognize the tv so I can use that remote to control all my tv, stereo
    • Comments:
I replaced a Sony 35" that was about 7 years old. The picture tube was going bad. This 37" fits in my entertainment center perfectly which is in the family room. It is great to have an HD TV hooked up to a cable box that has HDMI and composite outs. So far I can only complain about the problem mentioned earlier about the cable remote. But that might not be a Sharp issue, but a Motorola issue. ...

    • Product Rating: 5 star(s) Compared the SHARP to Sony Bravia and Vizio before settling
      by Lucho, Oct. 3, 2006
    • Pros: Black colors and two HDMI connectors (dish and dvd)
    • Cons: Not a 40" - haven't found any yet.
    • Has Owned Product: 10 years
    • Comments:
I was compelled to write this review because of the first review on the Hitachi TV, which I have not seen (nor looked for). But, after comparing this Sharp to the Vizio (screen too dark due to innability to get a higher contrast ratio), and the Bravia (...

    • Product Rating: 3.5 star(s) Sharp LC-37D40U Reviews
      by David Katzmaier
    • Pros: Able to reproduce relatively deep blacks; numerous picture adjustments; two HDMI and two component-video inputs; attractive all-black styling.
    • Cons: Color decoding pushes red and de-emphasizes green; no PC input or picture-in-picture; can't change aspect ratio modes with HD sources.

      by David Katzmaier
    • Comments:
As competition among flat-panel HDTVs intensifies, traditional manufacturers such as Sharp have to scramble to lower prices or lose sales to cheaper, less recognizable brands. Sharp's LC-37D40U, a 37-inch LCD-based HD TV, exemplifies that trend, selling f...

    • Sharp LC-37D40U LCD HDTV Television
      by Thomas J. Norton
    • Pros: Excellent color when adjusted, with natural foliage and flesh tones
    • Cons: Black level and shadow detail, as in other LCD displays we've tested, remain inferior to the best from other technologies
    • Comments:
There's a revolution happening in high-definition televisions. Plasma and LCD flat panel displays are on the verge of dominating the market. CRTs still sell in higher numbers, but primarily in smaller and cheaper models. Once you get much over $1000 and 3...
