A mixed blessing
by silkbear, Sep. 29, 2008 - Pros: When in focus, great image quality
- Cons: often trouble with focusing in two ways: either the picture is taken and out of focus OR trouble with focusing and therefore disabled
- Comments:
I really love to adjust the ISO and have gotten great pictures. The quality of the built-in flash was also a great surprise. In addition, I like the sharpness (if the focus works properly) and the more even distribution of light in the pictures than I was used to with my previous digital pocket cameras. However, there is one problem that I haven't quite resolved -- the focus. Either the picture is taken and out of focus OR the camera/lens has trouble with focusing and therefore is disabled. In retrospect, I should not have bought lens and camera body from different sources, because it's now hard to know where to turn to. ...

A serious camera for serious photographers
by Robaire, Jun. 25, 2008 - Pros: Very flexible, wide range of adjustments, a pro-level camera, many controls on the body & not buried
- Cons: Not for inexperienced users, no "program" modes
- Comments:
The D300 takes some getting used to as you have to make a number of decisions about settings that lesser cameras make for you but that is the fun & challenge of working with it. You can set up programs with different settings for different types of settings (landscape, portraits, etc.) as well as a personal menu for settings you change regularly so you don't have to sort through the other menues. ...

Nikon D80
by Philip Ryan - Comments:
As the replacement for Nikon's popular D70s, the new 10.2-megapixel Nikon D80 has some big shoes to fill. After all, the original D70 became a backup body for lots of professionals when it first came out, and while the D200 is likely to fill that role now... - Read full review at asia.cnet.com
