    • Product Rating: 4 star(s) Nikon D60 is great for amateurs starting out; great price
      by d60d, Apr. 27, 2009
    • Pros: 55-200mm zoom lens, Nikon brand
    • Cons: pictures not super sharp
    • Comments:
I purchased my Nikon D60 from ritzcamera.com for about $670. That includes the body, 18-55mm VR lens, 55-200mm VR lens, Nikon camera bag, and 2 Nikon instructional DVDs. Tip: if you have the Entertainment coupon book, they give you a 5% discount at ritzcamera.com. Bank of America now also has an Add It Up program that gives you 3%(?) discount if you use your debit card. Unfortunately, ritzcamera.com took almost a month to ship the 18-55mm lens (some issues with their supplier). Nevertheless, I got a great deal. I have been a loyal Sony Mavica/Cybershot customer in the past but going to the dSLR level, I knew I had to go Nikon. And I was right -- there is no graininess when I blew up a pic I took with the D60 (compared to my 2-year old Cybershot). I'm taking a photography class every Tuesday night so I'm learning a lot of things still. The D60 is the perfect camera if you don't know what you're doing. My only gripe is that my pictures don't seem to come out tack sharp at all (at least what I would expect from a dSLR). I have tried tips I got from books and online (use a tripod, turn the VR off, use a remote control, etc) but the pictures seem less than eye-popping. My photography class instructor likes to say it's a "defective user" but I'm not so sure. I'm giving the D60 a B- for now (I'm tough I know). We'll see what develops... ...

    • Product Rating: 4 star(s) Makes photographic memory beautiful and sexy.
      by kawenks, Apr. 20, 2009
    • Pros: Easy to take good pictures even for a newbie. Good value.
    • Cons: None.
    • Comments:
It's not top of the line in features. But the Nikon D60 gets you to up to speed fairly quickly to get beautiful pictures without the pain of a steep learning curve on the camera and on photography. Out of the box, you get beautiful skin tones, crisp landscapes and detailed macro shots. Bottom line, it doesn't get in your way when you want to enjoy the beauty around and capture them in pictures. ...

    • Product Rating: 4 star(s) Pro-quality for a modest price!
      by alphasco, Dec. 3, 2008
    • Pros: Comfortable weight; I was afraid a digital SLR would be heavy like film SLRs were. Like the auto-focus, but love the manual focus ability.
    • Cons: None
    • Comments:
A great digital SLR for the money! It handles easily, controls are well-placed and quickly learnable. I highly recommend the Nikon D60 for someone wanting pro-quality but doesn't need a $1K plus camera. ...

    • Product Rating: 5 star(s) Excellent camera with Excellent features
      by RISHIT, Sep. 12, 2008
    • Pros: easy of use, auto focus and great image quality
    • Cons: Yet to be found
    • Comments:
I bought this camera to take pictures of my 2 year old son, earlier I were owning normal digital cameras like Canon power shot and Sony, I was hardly used to get good pictures by using them even after spending a lot of time. After taking the first snap using D60, I thrown one of the camera to Trash and I gave other one to my wife for here personal use. But with this new camera I am very much satisfied with the quality of photos it is deliverying, and ease of use like normal digi-cam. ...

    • Product Rating: 5 star(s) Awesome camera
      by Spodie, Jul. 22, 2008
    • Pros: This camera takes great shots! You could shut off the flash by just turning the dial
    • Cons: The flash didn't always come on. But its meant to sense when its needed.
    • Comments:
It's a great camera. It's easy to use and takes excellent pictures. I got the zoom lens too and it works fine. Also the camera itself will zoom in on the picture and it is very clear. I plan to use it on my friends wedding next year. ...

    • Product Rating: 10 star(s) Great Price, Very Capable Camera System
      by DG4, Jul. 6, 2008
    • Pros: Good lens selection; many modes for advanced beginner or semi professional
    • Cons: Numerous modes are complex and difficult to master
    • Comments:
The camera has exceeded my expectations; the two lenses should cover just about any situation I wish to capture. The camera quality appears to be up to Nikon's reputation. The two DVD tutorial disks will be helpful to a beginner. One aspect is the complexity of the numerous modes; this will take some time for even an experienced photographer to master. A beginner without an understanding of basic photography will probably never use a tenth of the cameras capabilities. Overall, a great camera that will last the rest of my life. ...

    • Product Rating: 10 star(s) Enitre family used on overseas trip right out of box
      by Mistral, Jun. 21, 2008
    • Pros: Great for transition to SLR from point and shoot. Camera was easy to use for all ages and abilities, even for those who only use point and shoot. Younger childen can use with ease.
    • Cons: Family fought over who got to take photos on vacation because camera was so easy to use.
    • Comments:
Great camera to choose for those moving from point and shoot to SLR. I could not see that much difference from Nikon costing 4x the price and this one especially on auto-mode. Menu is as easy to use as basic camera, not difficult at all. Entire family including 2 children could use with little explanation, teenager was able to take incredible shots of people. We took over 3000 pictures on the first use, a vacation to Cambodia and Thailand. I put the camera/lens together in the airport between flights. Well worth the money. Battery never ran out during day and I did not have a spare, charges in less than an hour. ...

    • Product Rating: 8 star(s) Good stuff for good money
      by Kienio, May. 22, 2008
    • Pros: Small size, good picture quality, fast response
    • Cons: Just 3 points for sharpness check
    • Comments:
The camera is very impressive: small and light enough to take it everywhere, with all the "pros" of SLR quality. The VR lenses are a "must-have" equipment, especially if you prefer not to use flash. Programs for specific kind of photos are nicely programed. There are two "cons" - it would be more intuitive (especially in menu and settings) and it should have more points to check the sharpness of picture (Canons have 9). Quality/price is also in good proportions. :)...

    • Product Rating: 3.6 star(s) Nikon D60
      by Philip Ryan
    • Pros: Optically stabilised 18-55mm kit lens; convenient onscreen user interface; compatible with a wide variety of lenses and accessories
    • Cons: Pricey for what it offers; lens-based image stabilisation is less flexible than sensor-shift offered by some competitors
    • Comments:
Nikon's D60 is a good example of the current breed of entry-level dSLRs. With physical controls similar to that of a compact camera, this dSLR pumps up the features, allowing you to tweak your images in the camera, from fixing exposure and red-eye reducti...
