Great Technology for ordinary people.
by ameens, Nov. 11, 2008 - Pros: great technology
- Cons: I need to learn more about it
- Comments:
For great pictures this camera is all what you need but you must read all the instructions if you are not familair with this technology. I solved some of my problems by calling Nikon's great customer service because I am lazy. ...

Great Camera
by JackGreenberg, Jul. 14, 2008 - Pros: As a previous Nikon owner, this camera is everything I assumed it would be.
- Cons: None of any real consequence yet.
- Comments:
I've only had it a short time and have spent most of my time working through the menus to get familiar with all the features. I've taken about 400 photos with various settings just to see what is possible, but I've been on a couple of shoots and have several "keepers". I'm still trying to get everything set up to my liking. The multi-selector button is a little loose feeling when compared to the D70. I actually prefer a bit more resistance like to D70 has, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. At this point I'm real happy and I don't anticipate any problems. ...

Great camera, easy to use, and the best part is the huge flat screen TV.
by RobertL4242, Jul. 5, 2008 - Pros: The LCD screen, you can really see the image you just shot.
- Cons: I don't have any right now.
- Comments:
We got the camera and tested it before shooting a wedding last week-end. I put the 70-200 f2.8 VR lens on the body and went to work. It was fantastic. The quality of the images was excellent. The resolution, contrast, exposure, were right on the money. I put a 4GB, 266X Compact Flash card in the camera and it performed well all day. The batteries, I also bought the MB-D10 Battery Pack, lasted all day. I have a spare set of batteries because we use two D200's with Quantum flashes. I did have to change the batteries in the D200's, but not in the D300. It performed very well. ...

It is as good as you think it should be!
by jwm6780, Jun. 26, 2008 - Pros: Amazing focus system
- Cons: Too much camera for the novice
- Comments:
Owning a D200 I was reluctant to purchase the D300 thinking there would not be enough difference to warrant the replacement of a less than two year old camera. While the D200 is great the D300 is in a different league. Rather that restate the hype, it is as good as you think it should be. The LCD is great and the 54pt focus is amazing. The color saturation and overall picture is improved over the D200 and the D200 was very good. I read a review that another photographer was selling his D2H because the D300 was better. I agree!...

The future of SLR Digital Photography -Now
by Mr. Ton, Jun. 1, 2008 - Pros: This camera should keep me happy for another 20 years - it accepts AI lenses from the 70s- Wows!
- Cons: I haven't figured out how to work everything (not even close). It is a large body.
- Comments:
This is a great camera, a little complex at times- I am sure I will get used to it the more I use it(I am coming out of the F3 era). While the size may be a little bigger than most, it is not "huge". The large high quality display is a real Wow item. The start up speed and photo speed is incredible. This thing seems to think on its own as I have yet to screw up a picture - they all come out great. I can use my very old, but very good Nikkor AI lenses on it (one of the reasons for buying). This camera is typical Nikon - it makes me look better than I am. ...

D300, a great camera!
by ronichas, May. 23, 2008 - Pros: Large lcd screen, many choices in the functions on the camera.
- Cons: A bit pricey, a definate learning curve.
- Comments:
This is a great camera, feels great to hold, not to heavy. If familar with nikon slr, it is a bit easier to learn the different controls. There is a general learning curve to this camera. There is so much that can be done with the camera, I continue to review the manual and fine tune the settings. Has easy to reach controls, camera has lots of things to learn and try out. I use it for pleasure and a small photography business I have. ...

Top of the line, tip of the spear...
by terpsichorean, May. 20, 2008 - Pros: Incredible Auto-focus lens', LCD size and Quality...
- Cons: A little on the heavy side, not as "Automatic" as my OM2 (nor as light)...
- Comments:
Best: The lens' capability to autofocus in low light was an incredible discovery. It still needs to be held securely, or it will blur the picture. The non-slip body material has a nice feel. Least: It IS a heavy camera, but solid. I wasn't expecting to get as many blured photo's as I have. So, if this is a set-up issue, then the instructions are not as clear as they need to be... ...

Camera is good enough for most professional shooting
by PCU, May. 8, 2008 - Pros: High quality, long battery life, reliable, low noise
- Cons: Memory buffer size can be bigger
- Comments:
In shooting weddings, its low noise level at high ISO setting is great. The LCD is wonderful, helps me preview the image quality in detail on location. In shooting fast action at high speed continuous shooting, when camera is set at RAW quality, the buffer holds only 12 images, not really enough for critical shooting. The speed at 2.5fps when RAW is set to 14 bit prohibits the camera to be used at 14bit in action shots. ...
