Finally getting great pictures!
by etat2, Oct. 7, 2008 - Pros: image stabilization, size
- Cons: I haven't found anything I didn't like about this size camera.
- Comments:
If you want a moderately priced camera that is easy to use, lightweight, and performs like a big boy, then this is the one for you. I can carry it in my purse and always have it available to catch that "Once-in-a-lifetime" photo. I'm no Ansel Adams, so the point and shoot feature that results in good pictures is the best. ...

SD 870 Marvel
by Anand SS, May. 28, 2008 - Pros: Excellent Photo Quality, Battery life is very good and the wide angle lens really making a difference.
- Cons: The Video quality is not very good and also I found the controls little bit difficult to navigate.
- Comments:
My previous camera was also canon and I found the sd 870 also very good. The wide angle lens, and the LCD screen was just excellent... Only thing i found little bad about the camera is that its video is not good and noisy... ...

The SD870 IS delivers
by cuora, May. 19, 2008 - Pros: Fast responsive compared to previous generations, compact, easy-to-use.
- Cons: Mediocre low-light performance, no optical zoom during video recording.
- Comments:
The SD870 IS is an excellent general-use camera, producing high-quality images with a minimum of user intervention. Scene modes work well for their intended setting/subject(s). The wide-angle feature is great for taking groups shots in smaller indoor environments. ...

Works like a Charm
by falcongirl, May. 18, 2008 - Pros: Very sharp photos, lightweight, easy to use, wide angle lens.
- Cons: Face recognition not accurate.
- Comments:
I hike and this camera is a great one to hook to my backpack for quick access and quick photos. I was suprised by how sharp the pictures are with this camera. I found the price to be good. As for the weight, I don't even feel it there. The start-up time is great so I won't miss important shots. The camera has few buttons so it would be great for a beginner. I find this camera a great backup for my SLR. ...

This small camera takes quality expensive camera pictures.
by Gustie, May. 11, 2008 - Pros: Size, quality of pictures, easy to use, viewfinder makes it easy to view photos.
- Cons: I wish the battery life was longer. It didn't come with a case for protection against scratches.
- Comments:
A great camera for the beginner who wants great pictures without being knowlegeable about photography. First positive feature was how easy it was to start using. The picture quality is as good as my expensive 35mm digital for a lot less money. Of course the small and convienient size makes it easy to carry with you all the time. It should have come with a soft sided case of some kind to protect the view finder screen. The settings are easy to find and set. Lots of options so the picture quality should be right every time. ...

It compromises nothing
by TX1163, May. 8, 2008 - Pros: pretty much everything
- Cons: none really to speak of, a bit more zoom is always helpful but not terribly missed
- Comments:
We use it for all around pictures, in the house, outside in the yard, at family parties, etc. It works great so far in all scenarios. I wish it had a bit more zoom, but otherwise it's perfect for our needs. Slips into a pocket easily too. ...

Best camera for the money!
by sj1084, May. 8, 2008 - Pros: 3 inch screen, great picture quality, fun picture modes, etc
- Cons: Nothing yet
- Comments:
This camera is probably the best camera you can buy in the price range. It's picture quality is excellent, and it comes with a 3 inch lcd screen. I plan on using the camera for everyday and event photography. The different modes like color swap and accent also make it alot of fun. ...

Canon Digital Ixus 860IS / PowerShot SD870 IS review
by Gordon Laing - Pros: 28mm wide angle and optical stabilisation., Large and great quality screen., Very good build quality and design., Quick and easy access to settings.,
- Cons: Higher RRP than rivals., Little or no manual control., Slow continuous shooting., No Live Histogram; coarse zoom steps.
- Comments:
In these respects the 860IS / SD870 IS is undoubtedly one of the best compacts we've tested, but this degree of quality and performance doesn't come cheap. Canon cameras can be heavily discounted, but in terms of official RRPs, the 860IS / SD870 IS comes... - Read full review at cameralabs.com
